Predatory diving beetle, Dytiscidae Biological control of Mosquito larva- Malaria

This is the predatory diving beetle, Dytiscidae. I briefly researched the possibility of using these beetles for control of Mosquito larvae, but gave up research because the beetles does NOT survive in polluted waters and is very difficulty to maintain in stagnant water, these often take to flight when the habitat gets crowded or just to dirty beyond their comfort zone.

Bug-guide website has a page on this beetle. This specimen was caught on the shore of Lake Ossudu (Osteri) in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, South India.
